John Edward (Johnny) Morris, 72 passed away peacefully at Norton Healthcare Pavilion Hosparus unit on August 8, 2025 after enjoying many great years dealing with multiple health challenges. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Johnny was the youngest of 5 children in the Morris family. He was born on December 1st, 1952 and raised in Louisville. He graduated from St. Agnes Elementary and Atherton High School. He attended and played football for Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC.

In 1987, Johnny with his brothers as financial investors purchased Karem Deeb's Liquor and Deli which became Morris Deli, Liquor & Catering. He and his wife, Julie, created a warm and inviting establishment where everyone always feels welcome and the food is excellent. Everything was and is still today made by hand in the back of the store. "The Store" which the family has always called it became the heart and soul of John and Julie and has been recognized with numerous awards and distinctions. The rite of passage into adulthood for all Morris children was working at the store at a young age as a DB. Known as the Captain by many, he had a wonderful sense of humor and many lifelong friends. He and Julie enjoyed any leisure time at Nolin Lake and Cape Hatteras, NC with their family and friends. Johnny never met a stranger. Family and friends were important to John and he would do anything for them. He was a former Commissioner of Seneca Gardens, a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and served on the Board of the Passionists of Holy Cross Provence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Chawk Morris, his brothers Charles (Buzz), Jimmy and Frank Morris, his sister Ellen Morris Buchart, his sister-in-law Barbara Redman Morris and his beloved wife and partner, Julie Redman Morris.

He is survived by his children Chuck (Julie) and Leigh Anne Morris Caldwell (Brad), his granddaughter Charlotte Morris, his sister-in-law Julie Callahan Morris and nephews John, Frank, Michael and Jeff Morris and multiple great nieces and nephews. Johnny's motto and favorite song was "Don't Worry, Be Happy."

Funeral Mass will be Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 1:00 pm at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road Louisville, KY, 40205. Visitation will be Friday, August 15, 2025, from 3:00pm - 7:30pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville KY, 40205.
