John Lee Murano, 78, of Grimes, Iowa passed away on October 27, 2023, after battling many illnesses.
John was born on January 13, 1945, to Rose and John S. Murano in Des Moines, Iowa. John graduated from North High School in Des Moines, where he met the love of his life, Billie.
John & Billie married on July 31, 1965. Shortly after that, their daughter, Lisa Marie, was born. Followed by the birth of their son, Christopher John, aka CJ. John then became a doting grandfather of six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, who affectionately called him Pops.
After graduating, he started his career at Farm Bureau as an underwriter. He then became a banker with Banker Trust and then into sales with Bell & Howell.
John retired and spent his time attending his grandkids activities - soccer, dance, volleyball, wrestling, track, football, basketball, baseball and cross country.
John was predeceased by his father, John S. Murano; mother, Rose Murano and wife, Billie Murano. He is survived by his brother, Frank (Loretta) Murano; his children, Lisa (Mark) Trom and CJ (Denise) Murano; six grandchildren, Dani Mohlenbrock, Trevor Murano, Bryce Murano, Jenny Trom, Kaitlyn Murano and Brooks Trom; great-granddaughter Brevlynn Murano.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 am - 11:00 am, Friday, November 3, 2023 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1230 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines.
The Mass of Christian Burial for John will be 11:00 am, Friday, November 3, 2023 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1230 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines with Father Raphael Assamah as the Celebrant and a Celebration of Life luncheon from Noon to 2:00 pm, followed by a private family graveside burial.

What I remember most about John was he was always such a nice guy. Even at a young age he was always a giving person. Every time I walk in a doctors office I think of John. At least now he will be free of pain and with Billie,

I first meet John when we were freshmen at Dowling High School in 1959. We sat beside each other for 2 years and developed what would become a lifelong friendship.
