John C. Murphy III (1967–2025)
John C. "Johnny" Murphy III, 58, of Kingston, MA, passed away on August 28th, 2025 due to Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Survived by his father, John Murphy; mother, Karen Murphy; brothers Kevin Murphy and Jeremy Murphy; sisters in law Catherine Jones and Meclina Murphy and a large extended family.
John attended Silver Lake Regional High School and was a graduate of The Peterson School second/first Engineers course. His love of music led him to work doing staging and lighting for Mountain Productions and Gillette Stadium which gave him the opportunity to work alongside numerous bands in the 1980s such as Pink Floyd, David Bowie, The Beach Boys, Metallica and the Monsters of Rock Tour and to develop his own talents as a fantastic harmonica player. He also worked as a CNC Machinist at Peterson and Nash and as a Watch Engineer at the Bridgewater State Hospital Power Plant.
John could only be described as a character - quick with a funny take on life and never shy about sharing it. An avid reader and devoted fan of a wide variety of book and movie genres, John's passion for Star Wars was rivaled only by his love of memorabilia.
A great friend, wonderful son and fiercely loyal big brother, he never backed down from a challenge and was always there when someone needed him. A one of a kind soul who will be greatly missed.
John requested no services. He always loved and cared for animals and donated regularly to support rescue cats and dogs. Please donate to the Standish Humane Society of Duxbury, https://www.standishhumane.org/honor-and-memory-gifts, or any no-kill animal shelter / rescue that helps all the cats and dogs that need a good home.
