John Francis "Jack" Naughton, 87, of Coralville, IA, passed away surrounded by family Saturday, November 15, 2025. A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM, Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will follow until 1:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Michael's Cemetery, Holbrook, Iowa with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Old St. Michael's or Iowa City Hospice.

On July 1, 1938, Jack was born in Clinton, Iowa the first of 11 born to Geral and Eileen (Carraher) Naughton. He led a life of adventure starting with kindergarten in Clinton, moving on to Goose Lake and in 4th grade settling in Holbrook and graduating from Parnell High School in 1956. In between he flew off the garage roof when he was 5, milked cows when he was 6 and after the 4th grade, he thoroughly enjoyed life on the farm in Holbrook.

Jack's dad died in 1958, so he became the head farmer for two years and then holding a variety of jobs going from the army '60 – '63, owning a bar in Parnell and being a cross country truck driver - with many in between. For 40 years he owned and operated a very successful acoustic ceilings business. Many businesses in the Iowa City area have ceilings he installed. He retired in 2003.

In 1968 he and Nola Coon were married at St. Thomas More Church in Iowa City. They enjoyed living in Iowa City until 2020 when they moved to a condo in Coralville. They also happily had 16 warm winters in Arizona.

Jack was proud of his Irish heritage, and he and Nola enjoyed two trips to Ireland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dick Naughton; sisters -in law, Donna Naughton, Sonja Naughton, and Shirley Naughton; and brothers-in-law, Bob Cozine and Pat Murphy. He was also preceded in death by many dear friends and relatives including a cousin, Ann who was like a sister.

Jack is survived by his wife, Nola; 9 siblings, Tom (Linda) of Iowa City, Joe of Iowa City, Dan of Connecticut, Phil (Denise) of Waterloo, Sheryl Murphy of Coralville, Francine (Mike Abboud) of Hanover Park, IL and Sun City, AZ, Theresa Cozine of Solon, Don (Deb) of Solon, and Randy (Sharon) of Phoenix and Payson, AZ.
