John David Nelson Sr. "Bob", age 85 of Bradner, Ohio passed away peacefully Friday, August 8th, 2025. He was born on June 4th, 1940, in
Wayne, Ohio to the late John and Verna (Weiker) Nelson. John married the love of his life Anna K. Young on September 21st, 1963.
Surviving John are his loving wife of 61 years Anna, Sons John Jr. (Monica) of Collinsville, Alabama, Mark (Janis) Nelson of
Wayne, Ohio and Daughter Abby (Brian) Shultz of Risingsun, Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Verna Nelson, Paternal Grandparents John and Myrtle Nelson, Maternal Grandparents, Clarence and Glada Weiker. Daughter In Law Peggy Nelson, Sister Debbie Lynn Nelson and Brother in Laws, Charles Shook, Harold Snyder and Thomas Herrig
John was a 1958 graduate of Risingsun High School and served his Country proudly in the Ohio National Guard 148 Infantry out of Bowling Green, Ohio from 1962-1968. He worked for Atlas Crankshaft in Gibsonburg, Ohio and retired after 30 years from the Fostoria, Ohio Altas Crankshaft. Following retirement, he spent 20 years delivering the Sentinel Tribune out of Bowling Green, Ohio.
John loved to travel, whether it was to the local car dealership or to the mountains out West. His joy for farming, collecting John Deere miniature trackers to watching Gun Smoke and cheering on his Michigan Wolverines sporting his favorite baseball hat. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and sitting with Anna on their outside swing, sharing memories of their 61-year love story.
Visitation will be held at Barndt Funeral Home in
Wayne, Ohio, on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 10 AM – 12 PM. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Friday at 12 PM with Pastor Daniel Lucien, Fostoria Church of God will be officiating. Burial will take place at Bradner Cemetery, Bradner, Ohio with full Military honors performed by the AMVETS Honor Detail.
