John Nester
December 11, 1938 – October 7, 2025
John Nester's remarkable life journey came full circle as he passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family and friends who cherished every moment with him. His unwavering faith inspired countless hearts and minds, leaving a lasting impact. John was preceded in his eternal journey by his parents, Olga and Nicholas Nester, and his identical twin, Fred Nester. His legacy of love and resilience lives on through his wife of 44 years, Dolores (Dee), his daughters Tiffany Bolton (Richard), Shea Bovee, and Tara Feddon (Brian), and his grandchildren Tyler Bovee, Saylor, and Kora Feddon, who will continue to carry his spirit forward.
John was born in New York, New York. His mother, father, and twin brother moved to Trenton, New Jersey, when he was five years old. John and his twin brother, Fred, participated in all sports activities. Both graduated from Trenton Junior College with a two-year degree in business administration and went on to Wake Forest University, then graduated from Rider University in 1960 with a degree in business administration. John and Fred served in the Army from 1960 to 1962. In 1962, John started his career with the Naval Intelligence Service (NIS) as a senior agent, handling criminal investigations and counterintelligence. John was promoted to senior resident agent and was in charge of the Philippines (Subic Bay Base) 1964 to 1965, Vietnam (Saigon) from 1965-1966, El Toro Air Force Base from 1966 to 1967, Key West Naval Air Station from 1968 to 1970, Philippines (Subic Bay) from 1970 to 1971, and Ohio Air Base from 1971 to 1972, after which he retired and came to Florida to join his mother and brother. John was frequently moved to problematic situations due to his skills in criminal investigations and counterintelligence. John was written about his experience in Viet Nam, a book published by Douglas H. Hubbard Jr., Special Agent Vietnam: A Naval Intelligence Memoir. John also flew with President Johnson on Marine One. John received many accreditations during his career with NIS, but one of his greatest honors was "United States of America Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Expeditionary Medal" for serving a high-risk war zone under difficult conditions. A plague that honors John and fellow Senior Resident Agent, that served during this time is on display at NCIS Headquarters. After his return to Florida, he worked at Jupiter Hospital as Supervisor of Security in 1972 then was offered a position at Martin Memorial Hospital as Director of Safety, Security and Communications from 1972-1992.
