John Earl Norman, age 64, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away on December 30, 2025.
John Earl was born on August 29, 1961, and was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. John Eldridge and Mrs. Claflem Taylor Norman.
He is survived by his only child, Morgan Averette (Lee); his beloved grandchildren, Kallen, Maddi Lee, Ellis Beth, Kristian, Lizzie, and Addi Averette; his sister, Janise Claflem Norman, and a host of nieces and nephews.
John Earl was a graduate of Holt High School class of 1980. After high school, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he accomplished many significant achievements, including earning an Aviation Logistics diploma, completing scuba diving training, U.S. Army Medical Specialist training, attending Jump Master School and serving as part of the 20th Special Forces Airborne Unit out of Pell City, AL.
Throughout most of his life, John Earl also worked alongside his father at the family business, Norman's Chevron and Service Station, where he was a skilled mechanic and wrecker driver.
John Earl had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and was a certified hunting guide. He loved motorcycles, spending time on the water,being at the beach and deep-sea fishing. Above all, he was a loving father, who loved deeply and in his own way.
John Earl lived a full and complex life. He faced significant personal struggles and challenges that shaped much of his journey. Despite these hardships, he lived life to the fullest.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Cottondale Community Church, located at 1801 Prude Mill Road, Cottondale, Alabama 35453.
Arrangements and flowers may be sent to the church one hour prior to service.
John Earl Norman will be remembered for his love of life, and the impact he made on those who knew him.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Anders, Attorney at Law and Lee Averette
