John Zuehlke Notebaart

John Zuehlke Notebaart, age 78, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Brewster Village. He was born to the late John J. 'Jack' and Eileen (Zuehlke) Notebaart on March 2, 1945, in Appleton.
An Appleton native, John graduated from Appleton High School West class of 1963. He began his banking career at Appleton State Bank, then Valley Bank and later retired from M&I bank.
John enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycles, attending Packer games, camping at Peninsula State Park, visiting Door County, playing cards and all things racing. He surrounded himself with a tremendous group of friends, many of whom have remained since high school. He enjoyed many laughs with the cards group, morning coffee at the Paper Valley and Mary's Place and dinners with the banking group. He valued his lifelong friends and always had a story or a laugh to share. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.
John is survived by his children Ross (Jessica) Notebaart and Katie Notebaart; grandchildren Rowan and Briar Notebaart; sister Barbara (Richard) Nehls; nieces Jennifer Snyder and Dr. Sarah Nehls; nephew Paul (Momi) Nehls; great nieces Leila Nehls and Ava Rikkers; great nephews Jack Snyder and Hale Rikkers; cousin Sandy (Bill) Van Elzen; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, nephew-in-law Paul Snyder and cousins: Mary Golz, John Belling and Jean Burmeister.
John's laugh, sense of humor, comradery and kindness are going to be deeply missed.
A celebration of life for John is being planned for a later time and will be held at BRETTSCHNEIDER TRETTIN NICKEL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 606 N Oneida Street, Appleton. The family will provide notification when a date and time have been set.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Cherry Meadows, Thedacare Hospice and Brewster Village for the care and compassion they showed John and his family.
