John Martin Novak
August 27, 1935 - August 21, 2024
It is with great sadness that we regret to announce the passing of John Martin Novak, resident of Union City, CA for over 55 years. John was born on August 27, 1935, in New York City to Dorthy and John Novak Sr. He passed away on August 21, 2024, at Kaiser Fremont in California at the age of 88 (6 days short of his 89th birthday). He leaves behind his 4 children, their spouses, and 8 grandchildren. He was married to the love of his life Nancy for over 62 years.
John served in the U. S. Army through 1957, graduated from Penn State University in 1961 and eventually found his career working for the U. S. Dept. of Agriculture in the Livestock Division where he retired in 1991. He enjoyed his work and had a passion for creating a better work environment so established the National Meat Graders Union.
John was an avid gardener, collector of antiques, enjoyed buying and selling items at garage sales, flea markets as well as volunteering at church, and was a true historian. John was incredibly proud to be a Catholic and attended St. Anne's church for over 50 years. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. We ask that you please keep John in your thoughts and prayers and invite you to attend:
