John J. O'Neill

John ONeill of Anderson Township (formerly of Philadelphia), age 78, died Friday, September 16, 2022. John was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Anne (Higgins) ONeill. John is survived by his beloved wife Patricia (Gormley) ONeill; children John ONeill (Elin), Christine ONeill, and Kathleen Riestenberg (Chris); and grandchildren Maggie, John, and Elizabeth ONeill and William and Michael Riestenberg. Also survived by his brother Robert M. Wiley (Karen), and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
John was proud of having served in the US Navy as an aviation ordnanceman aboard the USS Bennington. He returned to Philadelphia following his service and met and married his wife of 55 years, Patricia. Johns work as a regional sales manager selling fire protection equipment moved him and his family to Cincinnati during the blizzard of 1978. At one point, John's sales territory covered 13 states. Although frequently out of town, he tried his best to attend as many sporting events as possible to support his children, and his booming voice could be heard across the fields and courts of Greater Cincinnati.
In retirement, John enjoyed woodworking, shooting trap at the Milford Gun Club, and spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored. His humor and thoughtfulness will be sorely missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose Church (2501 Riverside Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45202). Visitation will take place in the church, prior to Mass, from 9:00 10:00 a.m. A reception/lunch will follow the service. Committal ceremony at Guardian Angels Cemetery will be held later in the day for family. Memorial contributions can be made to Inter Parish Ministry Newtown Location (www.interparish.org).
