John J. O'Neill

John J. O'Neill, age 93 of Narragansett, RI and Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Deborah M. (Murphy) O'Neill for 67 beautiful years. Born in Providence, John was a son of the late Anthony J. and Mary E. (Coughlin) O'Neill.
He was a proud graduate of St. Joseph Parish - Cleary School, and Hope High School, and served his country with distinction as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War, earning two Purple Hearts for his bravery, amongst many other medals. After his military service, John dedicated his career to the United Association as a skilled sprinkler fitter. He was a respected leader, serving as President of Local #715 for over two decades, and retired after 38 years with Local #669. John's legacy is one of commitment, courage, and service.
In addition to his wife, Deborah, John is survived by his loving children, Deborah M. Johnson (Robert), John A. O'Neill (Karen), James T. O'Neill, Joseph P. O'Neill (ShonnaJene) and Robert F. O'Neill (Deanna); grandchildren, Robert E., Patrick, Deirdre, Trinity, Skylar, Cassidy, Robert F. Jr., and Jessica; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and two brothers, Anthony O'Neill and Joseph O'Neill.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 9 – 10 am in the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown. John's Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am in St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Rd., Narragansett. His burial with military funeral honors will be in the RI Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice, in John's memory.
