John Anthony Oleksinski, 95, of Libertyville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025.
He was born on January 3, 1930, in Ernest, Pennsylvania, to Tony and Ann (née Motsko) Oleksinski, and lived a life defined by faith, service, and perseverance. After losing his mother at the age of five, John learned early the values of resilience, independence, and hard work - qualities that guided him throughout his remarkable life. A natural leader from a young age, John was president of his high-school senior class and a standout athlete, excelling in track. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where his skill and determination quickly distinguished him. He rose through the enlisted ranks to become a Staff Sergeant and served as an instructor before being accepted into Officer Candidate School - one of the few candidates selected who did not yet hold a college degree. Upon graduation, he earned his commission as a Second Lieutenant and went on to serve as a pilot and flight instructor, flying B-52 bombers. He attained the rank of First Lieutenant before completing his service. After completing his service, John earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and later his Master's degree in Business - all while working full time and raising his young family. His determination and drive led him to a distinguished career in manufacturing, where he rose through the ranks to hold several senior executive positions, including serving as President of a major industrial company and ultimately starting his own company. He was admired for his intelligence, and integrity. John remained an athlete throughout his life - an undefeated amateur boxer in the Air Force and a lifelong tennis player who loved the game's challenge and camaraderie. Beyond athletics, he was a devoted reader with a deep curiosity about people, ideas, and the world around him.
On June 24, 1950, John married the love of his life, Dolores Oleksinski. Together they shared more than seventy years of love, laughter, and devotion. Dolores preceded him in death on November 7, 2024, after a lifetime of partnership built on faith and family.
He is survived by his children John J. (Teresa Nuno) Oleksinski, Marilynn Oleksinski, Michael Oleksinski, and Jeffrey (Modesta) Oleksinski; his grandchildren Carmen Oleksinski (Nathan Langdon), Johnathan Oleksinski, Anna Oleksinski, Alexándrea Rodriguez (Caleb Malik), Emma Oleksinski, and Orson Oleksinski; and his great-grandchildren Parker Julia Malik and Theo Langdon.
A devout Catholic, John lived his life guided by faith, humility, and integrity. He is remembered for his strength of character, lifelong curiosity, and steadfast devotion to family - qualities that continue to inspire all who knew him.
Visitation for John will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 AM on Saturday November 8, 2025 at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville, where there will be a funeral service at 10:30 AM. Interment with military honors to follow at Ascension Catholic Cemetery, Libertyville. Funeral info (847) 362-2626
