John Warren Orendorff, 81, passed, as he peacefully slept, from this life into God's heavenly light on Friday, January 17, 2025. John was born on November 17, 1943, in Bloomington, IL. He is the 2nd of three children of Robert C. and Eileen Orendorff.
John is lovingly remembered by two children Stephanie L. (Orendorff) Mount and Christopher J. Orendorff; son-in-law Stephen H. Mount; daughter-in-law Judith M. Lavin; and four grandchildren Eoin M. Orendorff, Aoife L. Orendorff, Cian F. Orendorff, and Áine R. Orendorff. His surviving family also consists of brother William Orendorff, sister-in-law Sarah Orendorff, brother Dick Orendorff, and his Significant Other, June Moyer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Connie Jo (Brighton) Orendorff.
After graduating from Illinois State University in 1967, John worked for many years at Central Soya, becoming an avid world traveler throughout his time there. John also developed his love for the game of golf, an activity he would enjoy for the next 40+ years. During the 1970s and early 1980s, he and his young family lived throughout the Midwest and Canada, until they settled in Fresno, California and he continued his career with BioProducts. By the late 1990s, John and Connie relocated to the Phoenix area, where they lived the rest of their lives. Before retiring, John spent the remainder of his working years consulting for numerous ventures from agricultural technologies to finance.
John was an Army veteran who served in the 12th Special Forces Group (Airborne), and Special Forces 46th Company (Airborne) during the Vietnam War. He also served at the Headquarters 86th U.S. Army Reserve Command, Army Air Defense Site, Arlington Heights, Illinois. He was a member of the American Legion Riders Post 44, and he served as Finance Officer and Commander for the Scottsdale Legion Post 44 as well as Finance Officer for the State of Arizona American Legion.
Post Everlasting and Celebration of John's blessed presence in our lives will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the American Legion Post 44: 7145 E. 2nd St., Scottsdale, AZ from 1:00 to 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Legion Post 44, State of Arizona American Legion, or Hospice of the Valley.
