John Peachey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anthony Funeral & Cremation Chapels - Brighton/Rochester Chapel on Jan. 26, 2022.
After a long and wonderful life filled with love, friendship, professional achievement, and travel adventures, Jack passed away peacefully in the presence of family.
The elder son of Clarence and Eunice, Jack is survived by his wife of 49 years, Susan Peachey; brother, Lee Peachey (Helen); sons, Neal (Erika) and Bruce Peachey; daughter, Janet Spitler (Paul); stepsons, Robert (Noreen) and Stephen (Jill) Wood; stepdaughter, Christianna (Barb) Wood; nine grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Jane Peachey. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Cathy Wood (Scott Roddick).
A lifelong Rochesterian, Jack was a graduate of Monroe High School and the University of Michigan. At Michigan, he joined the Theta Delta Chi fraternity, majored in chemistry, and became an avid, and permanent, Wolverines fan. After graduating from Michigan, Jack attended the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and then began his Dermatology residency at the University of Buffalo. His residency was briefly interrupted by a tour of duty as a physician with the United States Air Force at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama. Upon completion of his residency, Jack returned to Rochester to join his father, Clarence, in the practice of dermatology on South Goodman Street. Jack continued to maintain an active practice until his retirement at the age of 83.
While Jack's work in Rochester took up much of his time, his true happy place and center of gravity was Sodus Bay. Years before, Clarence and Eunice built a lakefront house on South Shore Road. Jack and his brother, Lee, spent much of their childhood exploring every inch of Sodus Bay and its surroundings. Jack and Susan spent most weekends there during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. His love for Sodus has been infectious. His children, their spouses, and Jack's grandchildren have all embraced Sodus Point as a place of refuge and joy.
Jack and Susan enjoyed the Rochester arts scene and were years-long subscribers to the RPO and GEVA Theater. They also shared a love of travel. Whether it was late summering on Cape Cod, exploring the waterways of Europe together, experiencing and documenting the wonders of the Galapagos Islands, or vacationing in the Caribbean islands, Jack and Susan immersed themselves in the journey.
Jack was a friend to so many and he will be dearly missed. A service to celebrate Jack's life will be held on April 9, 2022 at 1pm at the Interfaith Chapel at the U of R, 1045 Wilson Boulevard in Rochester. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's name can be made to the Rochester Museum and Science Center, 657 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607 or the Sodus Bay Historical Society, P.O. Box 94, Sodus Point, NY 14555.

I just saw this as I was in my search for a dermatologist...Dr.Peachey was my childhood and most of my adult life dermatologist and then my kids Dr..he was brilliant and had a sense of humor that was undeniable..he diagnosed my young daughter with something other Drs. Could not figure out...I hadn´t seen him in about 17 years but Remember his great personality...wish there were more doctors like him..he cared for his patients and always went above and beyond...
