John R. Poglitsch

John R. Poglitsch, 78, of Bristol, died peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Helene (Karambay) Poglitsch. Born in New Britain, John was the son of the late Frank F. Poglitsch and Adeline (Deutsch) Poglitsch. He was raised in Newington and resided in Florida for many years before moving to Berlin, and most recently to Bristol. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Along with his brother Robert, he owned and operated Poglitch Garage in New Britain. John enjoyed woodworking and collecting and working on antique and muscle cars. He was meticulous with his lawn and was devoted to his favorite dog Isabel.
His survivors include his brother Robert F. Poglitsch and wife Holly of Woodbury; his sister Judy L. Poglitsch of Newington; and his step-daughter Wendy Carlson and husband Glenn Schroeder of Bristol.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Church of the Holy Spirit.
