Ruth L. Poglitsch

Ruth (Higley) Poglitsch, 93, of Vernon, loving wife of the late Robert Poglitsch, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024. Ruth was born on September 25, 1930, in Hartford. Ruth and her loving husband Robert Poglitsch married in 1950 and they had lived in East Hartford before Ruth moved to Vernon in 1992.
Along with raising her family and being a dedicated homemaker, she later was employed as a waitress where she had worked for over 25 years at several different restaurants in the area. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, and she loved to play Bingo. Other than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her passion was gardening, which was part of her daily routine.
Ruth is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Donna and Robert Hardesty of South Windsor; Bobbi and George Greco of Blue Ridge, VA; Heidi and David Howey of Rockville, and Ruth's brother, Charlie Higley of Scotland, CT. Ruth also leaves her eight adored grandchildren and their spouses; Richard and Sheri Pudelka; Traci and Jorge Hurtado; Brian and Denise Hardesty; Christina and Jennifer Hardesty-Sposito ; Shannon and Mike Huard ; Joseph and Nichole Greco ; Jordan Howey; and Tristan and Kelsey Howey-Moran and Ruth's seven cherished great-grandchildren: Dominic, Nicholas, Dylan, Michael, Joshua, Tyler and Callie, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Kenneth Laferriere, a sister and seven brothers.

A graveside service will be held in the Hillside Cemetery, 162 Hillside St. East Hartford, CT 06108 on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 11:00 am. There are no calling hours.
