John J. Popp Jr., age 59, of Hinckley, IL passed away, after a short battle with cancer, on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 16, 1964 in Aurora, IL the son of John J. and Loreen (Yoakum) Popp Sr. He is survived by his mother, Loreen Popp of Hinckley, IL; his five siblings, Kari (Gary) Harrison of Sandwich, IL, Joe (Suzanne) Popp of Naples, FL, Jeorge (Kathy) Popp of Buckeye, AZ, Peggy (Scott) Johnsen of Sugar Grove, IL, and Jake (Jeni) Popp of Yorkville, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. John was a home builder and enjoyed working in the industry with his family. He also enjoyed the many vacations he took with his family throughout the years. John enjoyed spending most of his free time with family and friends and loved to share in the successes of his nieces and nephews. He loved to cook a good meal and brag about it later. John enjoyed meeting his friends up town to play cards, have some drinks, and a good laugh. John was a strong advocate for suicide awareness. His family would like to thank the Kishwaukee Cancer Center for their care and support throughout his difficult time. John was preceded in death by his father, John J. Popp Sr.; both his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his close friend, Ryan Michels. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 Maple Street, Hinckley, IL. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hinckley, IL. Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at the Nash-Nelson Funeral Home in Hinckley, IL.
