John "Rick" Poremba

John "Rick" Poremba, 71, of Dearborn passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2024. He was a kind, curious, and hilarious social butterfly that remembered everyone's name and everything he ever talked about with them. Best dad ever to Lauren (Mike) Daniels and Jennie (Jacob) Mabb, and proud papa to his grandchildren Shane, Maddie, and Emmie whom he loved dearly. Preceded in death by his mother Dottie, brothers Butch and Walt, and sister Fran. Survived by his brother Mark (Arlene), sisters Vicky (Dan) and Debbie, sister-in-law Faye, brother-in-law Bill, nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends that are and will always be family. Rick was originally from Ecorse but moved to north Allen Park in middle school and was a proud 1971 graduate of Melvindale High School where he made friends that lasted his lifetime. After high school, Rick worked for US Steel and was a proud USW Local 1299 member until he retired. He loved all forms of entertainment including TV, movies, and theater but he loved music and concerts most, especially in sharing those experiences with loved ones. An avid bike rider and golfer until his health declined, he loved fresh air and spending time with his buddies. His sense of humor, great stories, and extensive trivia knowledge will be sorely missed by all that loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association.
