It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Michael J. Poremba, 50, of Clarks Summit, on September 21, 2025. His beloved wife of 21 years, Amy C. (Naro) Poremba, was by his side. Michael was a beacon of love and strength, and he left a deep and lasting impact on those around him. His presence will be deeply missed throughout our entire community.

Born on January 29, 1975, in Montclair, NJ, to Joseph J. and Patricia M. (McKenzie) Poremba, Michael attended Sacred Heart Elementary School in Rockaway, NJ, before moving to Waverly, PA, in 1989. Locally he attended Bishop Hannon High School (class of 1993), and later graduated from Bloomsburg University (class of 1997), with his Bachelors Degree in Marketing. Throughout his education, Michael developed many lifelong friends with whom he remained close.

In his professional life, Michael distinguished himself as a Regional Private Banker at Wells Fargo, where he built lasting relationships grounded in trust and respect. Michael was also a cornerstone of our community, serving on various boards and committees. In 2017, he was appointed to the board of trustees for the Waverly Community House. He served with distinction as chair of the investment and finance committee from 2019-2023, at which time he was elected to the executive committee as vice president, and then served a two-year term as president.

Michael's greatest accomplishments, however, were his children, Mallory and Declan. He loved reliving his youth through their eyes, and sharing the movies and music he loved to this day. This past summer, he and his family enjoyed many live concerts, making memories that will be cherished for their lifetime.

But Michael shone brightest while coaching youth sports, whether it was on the basketball court, the baseball or softball fields, or his new found love watching his son in the lacrosse crease. He was not only a proud dad to his own children, but he applauded the accomplishments of the many children he has coached throughout the years, and cherished each fist-bump he received on and off the field. He instilled in these young athletes a sense of pride, comradery, and sportsmanship that will hopefully remain with them forever.

In addition to coaching, Michael also served as treasurer and member of the executive committee for Abington Area Girls Softball League (AAGSL), and commissioner for the Wildcats travel softball team. He was a commissioner and treasurer for Abington Youth Basketball League (AYBL), and a board member for AH Attack (Lacrosse).

Michael's fierce loyalty and compassionate nature made him not only a remarkable friend but also a guiding light for many. His legacy will continue to inspire his loved ones, as he leaves behind a wealth of cherished memories and life lessons. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Amy, and children, Mallory, and Declan, are his parents, Joseph and Patricia (Waverly), his sister Laura and husband Christopher Bergsman (Huntington Woods, MI), his sister, Erin and husband Rick Cornish (Allentown), his brother, Christopher (Throop), father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anthony P and Lucille Naro (Throop), brother-in-law, Anthony T Naro, and wife, Lisa (Dunmore), nieces and nephews, Alex Bergsman (Philadelphia), Aidan Bergsman (Lansing, MI), Zoe Bergsman (Huntington Woods, MI), Shannon and Zachary Cornish (Allentown), Sara Naro (Dunmore), as well as cousins.

Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Josephine Poremba, his maternal grandparents, Donald and Mary McKenzie, and his uncle, John Poremba and wife, Theresa.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, October 1st from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Church of St.Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green. The funeral will be held on Thursday, October 2nd at 11:00 AM at the church with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated. Interment at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Michael's memory to any of the Abington youth sports leagues where he was involved, the Waverly Community House, his newest passion project - Clarks Summit Goes Pink, or Blue Chip Animal Farm & Rescue.
