John Joseph Pugni, age 49, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at JFK University Medical Center in Edison, NJ. He was born on January 2,1976 in Manhattan, NY. John grew up in Manhattan before living in Metuchen for some time and then moved to Iselin five years ago.
John was a pure soul in every way, he had many struggles and obstacles throughout his life, but he always managed to smile and make others smile with his impressions and silly antics. Oh! and how he loved cars and car shows -- his favorite was a Trans Am 1984. His favorite pastime was enjoying good food at his favorite restaurants and watching Star Trek movies. John was an animal lover -- always ready to rescue the wounded bringing them to safety and treatment. His own five cats were like his children always making sure they were cared for and loved.
He will always be remembered by his family and friends as a person with a heart of gold. John is now in the presence of our Lord and his grandparents basking in the light and warmth of their love. Life's chains are gone, he's been set free in peace for all eternity.
John was predeceased by his grandparents, Ida and Emilio Ceparano.
Surviving John are his mother, Melodie Aszman and her boyfriend, Wayne Karnas; his brother, Austin Aszman; his aunt and uncle, Linda and Charles Farrauto; his cousins and their families, Charles and Alexia Farrauto and their children Guiliana and Calogero and Angelica and John Haubrich along with their children, Jeanna and Bethany; and his beloved five cats: Bosco, Ginger, Gigi, Marley and Gizmo.
Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Flynn and Son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, NJ 08840. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen.
