Poughkeepsie-John M. Rauschenbach, 53, of Poughkeepsie, NY, previously of Poughquag, passed away on May 8, 2025.
John was born on January 4, 1972, in the Bronx, NY, the son of Hans "Ron" and Margaret "Peggy" Rauschenbach.
John was an Assistant House Manager for Greystone Programs, Inc. in Pawling, NY, enriching the lives of all the clients who crossed his path. Caring for others was a consistent focus of John's life. He also spent 22 years proudly working with his dad as a talented contractor, helping people to improve their family homes.
He was a creative and artistic man who also enjoyed taking care of his outstanding garden at home with his loving, steadfast wife, Dawn McKenzie. He absolutely loved to share his homegrown tomatoes and harvests with everyone. John loved to cook for his family and friends and created wonderful dishes for every holiday. In his younger years, he excelled on the Track Team for the Arlington School District.
John had a heart of gold, and endlessly cared for his family, pets, and clients. A true animal lover, he will be greatly missed by his fur babies: Pete, Bubbles, Kiki, Willie, Buddy and Ella. He is now reunited with his Daisy May.
John is survived by his devoted mother, Peggy Rauschenbach, his loving wife, Dawn McKenzie, his sister Jeannie Newman and her husband Bill, his niece and nephew Lauren and Ryan Newman, and his brother Ronald Rauschenbach and wife Dina. John was also loved by Dawn's wonderful extended family, which is filled with many incredibly kind in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his father and friend, Hans Rauschenbach.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY from 4pm - 7pm with a service starting at 6:30 pm.
