Funeral services for Mr. John Wayne Ritter, 86 of Carthage, will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Old Center Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held on Friday evening, July 19, 2024, from 6:00-8:00.
Mr. John Wayne Ritter was born on October 29, 1937, in Loop, Texas to Henry Ritter and Gladys Hayes Ritter. He passed from this life on July 16, 2024, in Longview.
John Wayne married Mrs. Linda Wall Ritter on February 25, 1961, and celebrated almost 62 wonderful years together before she preceded him in death in November 2022. John Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed playing with his great grandchildren, enjoyed riding on the pontoon boat on the lake and he had a passion for gardening. He loved to tell stories of when he worked on the pipelines and he loved to take trips with his friends and family.
John Wayne is survived by his children, son, Michael Ritter and wife Phyllis of Gary; daughter, Cindy Kellebrew and husband Billy of Kilgore; brother, RH Ritter and wife Jolee of Boerne; sister, Glenda Edge of Carthage; grandchildren, Matt Ritter and wife Cayla, Chelsea Murphy and husband Matt, Erica Null and husband Travis and Emily Boggus and husband Justin; great grandchildren, Amelia and Bristol Boggus, Madison Null, Parker Ritter and Gatlin and Griffin Murphy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Linda Ritter and great granddaughter, Gentry Murphy.
