John Roaderick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Henderson & Sons Funeral Home - South Chapel - Rome on Feb. 2, 2026.
Mr. John Jackson Roaderick, age 68, of Rome, GA, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at a local hospital.

John was born on November 12, 1957, in LaFayette, Georgia, to the late Walter B. Roaderick and the late Clara Ruth Roaderick (formerly Sisson). In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sisters, Susan Leathers and Christine Roaderick, and his son-in-law, James Blalock.

John was a devoted man of God whose life was rooted in faith, family, and service to others. He loved the Lord deeply and answered his calling as an evangelist, sharing God's word with passion and conviction. John also served faithfully as an associate pastor at Southside Baptist Church for a time, where he was known for his love of preaching and his heartfelt dedication to his church family.

Outside of the pulpit, John found joy in the simple things he loved-listening to gospel singing, watching WWF wrestling, and cheering on NASCAR. He had a larger-than-life sense of humor and was famously funny, always cutting up and joking, sometimes right up to the point of good-naturedly aggravating those around him. His laughter was contagious, and his presence could light up any room.

Above all else, John cherished his family and held them close to his heart. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his servant's heart, and the joy and laughter he brought to everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the souls he encouraged, and the love he shared so freely.

Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Fay Roaderick; his children, Jennifer Palmer (Cory), Alex Palmer (Pam), Laura Ann Branson (Terry), Lee Blalock, and Jim L. Smith Jr., (Sherry); his sister, Brenda Garrett (Randy); his brothers, Walter B. Roaderick, Jr. (Kathy), Frankie Roaderick (Rhonda), Carland Roaderick, Robert Roaderick, and Roy Roaderick (Beth); as well as 16 grandchildren, and numerous beloved great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Rev. Donald Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers will be Leon Mabry, Marty Mabry, Burlin Mabry, Alex Palmer, Cory Hudgins, and Walter "Scooter" Roaderick.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, is honored to serve the family of Mr. John Jackson Roaderick.
