John E. "J.R." Robinson

John "J.R." Everett Robinson, 75, of Cumberland, died peacefully on March 25, 2023, with his family by his side.
Born August 6, 1947, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John Burton Robinson and Janet Lee (Wilkinson) Robinson.
He was also preceded in death by siblings, Richard Robinson and Sara Holtzman.
He was a graduate of Allegany High School and attended the PGA Golf Management School.
"J.R." was the Assistant Golf Professional at River Bend Golf & Country Club in Everett, PA, as well as at the Bedford Elks Golf & Country Club and Cumberland Country Club. He was the Head Professional at Maplehurst Golf & Country Club for 13 years. "J.R." provided golf lessons and merchandise and organized many tournaments for members and organizations. He also served on the Titleist staff.
"J.R." has held many course records, including two holes-in-one in the same month of the same year!
He was also well known for his store, "J-R's Custom Screen Printing and Embroidery." J.R., along with his son, John, and staff have provided apparel and trophies for individuals, area teams, and many organizations
He was a member of Queen City Lodge #131, A.F. & A.M.; 32nd. degree, Cumberland Scottish Rite Bodies; Ali Ghan Shrine, where he belonged to the Directors Staff; and Past Director, Cumberland Court #117, R.O.J.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Marilyn (Stewart) Robinsson, two children, Jana Sweitzer-Bowman and husband Dave, and John Robinson; and, three grandchildren Brandon Sweitzer, Samantha Sweitzer, and Jack Robinson; He also has sisters Sheila Plummer and Thelma Ware, who died March 30, 2023; and, several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service may be held at a later date.
