Obituary published on Legacy.com by Colonial Funeral Home of Irving on Oct. 1, 2025.
It is with great sadness that the family of John Millard Rochner Jr., age 82, announces his passing on Thursday, September 18th, 2025. John was born to John Millard Sr. and Francine Rochner on December 26th, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky.
A man of deep and unwavering faith, John lived his life devoted to prayer, the sacraments, and the promise of eternal life. He was a devoted Catholic who fully embraced the teachings of the church. He was known for his lifetime commitment to attending Mass, never missing a Sunday, regardless of where he was in the world.
John's family moved to Texas City, TX when he was eleven. He grew up with his sisters, Barbara and Mary Kay, and his brother, Paul. Many of his happiest boyhood days were spent fishing and crabbing along the Texas coast.
After graduating from Texas City High School, John attended North Texas State University where he was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Order and met some of his best, lifelong friends. He earned a BA in Business Management while working nights on the freight docks to put himself through school. During his senior year he met his perfect partner in life, Linda Troutman. They were married on June 26th, 1965, and this June celebrated 60 wonderful years together. After Linda graduated from UNT, the couple settled in
Irving, Texas, while John completed service to his country in the National Guard.
John's career spanned several corporate positions before he took the leap of faith in 1980 to start his own business. In 1985 Linda joined him and the two of them ran a successful business working side by side for 45 years.
Together they raised four children. Family was John's greatest joy in life. He was an ever- present figure at his children's milestones; religious ceremonies, school and sporting events, always cheering from the bleachers and sidelines. He loved the holidays, spending Thanksgiving with his own extended family and Christmas with Linda's. Always up for adventure and a great time, he enjoyed traveling with Linda, his family, and close friends. He felt blessed to visit many of the nation's beautiful national parks, celebrated with family on cruises, traveled in Europe and spent time white water rafting, ziplining and riding coasters in the mountains. He and Linda enjoyed traveling to New England in the fall with their good friends Kay and Steve Parker.
He never met a stranger and anyone who had the pleasure of being in his company knew he had an unforgettable knack for storytelling, and was funny with a profound sense of humor. He enjoyed a good joke or prank and could fill a room with his big-hearted laugh. He imparted many valuable life lessons to his children that will continue to guide and comfort them.
John will be remembered as a beloved brother, devoted and loving husband, the best dad you could ever hope to have, a much-loved uncle, good friend, and proud "Rocky" to his granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law, Alan Peveto, his niece, Renee Peveto, and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Carpenter. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, his children, Robin Carpenter (Jim), Jennifer Ikard (Trey), Jeanna Rochner, John Paul Rochner (Eleanor), his grandchildren, James, Stephen, Ashley, and Allison Carpenter, Windsor Ikard, and Millie Rochner. His sisters, Barbara Peveto, Mary Kay Wendel (Clifton), his brother Paul Rochner (Therese), brother-in-law, Charles "Buddy" Troutman (Janet), sister-in-law, Janet Hughey (Bill), and nieces Heather Pickett, Hillary Wagner (Dan), Holland Hughey, Mallory Peterson (Matt), Natalie Rochner, and nephews, Jason Troutman (Christi), Trey Hughey, Brandon Rochner (Lindsay), Brett Rochner (Carly), and Von Wendel (Grace), and many great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the compassionate care given by Kat with Enhabit Hospice, Dr. Gao with M.D. Anderson, John's longtime cardiologist, Dr. Rothkopf, and the many wonderful nurses at UT Southwestern.
A funeral Mass celebrating John's life is planned Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church at 2323 Cheyenne Street in Irving. TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities or

Dad, thank you for the foundation and support you gave us, for the laughter we shared, for the lessons you taught, and for the love that will always stay with us. You broke the mold for world's best dad. We will miss you dearly, but we will carry your spirit with us every single day.
