John Francis Saluta

John F. Saluta, 74, of St. Augustine, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Queens, New York and grew up in Rockville Centre, NY. He later moved to St. Augustine in 1995 from Oceanside, New York.
Throughout his life, John was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to serving others. In Oceanside, New York, he selflessly volunteered as a firefighter and worked tirelessly as a truck driver. His hard work and determination inspired those around him and left a lasting impact on his community.
John had a passion for music, particularly classic rock, which brought him immense joy throughout his life. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially deep-sea fishing, where he found solace and tranquility in nature.
Above all else, John cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose love knew no bounds. His presence brought warmth and laughter to family gatherings, and his love and guidance will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John S. and Grace Saluta, his wife, Donna Saluta, and his daughter Megan Saluta Rodriguez. He is survived by his children, John M. Saluta (Lauren) of Springfield, GA, Michelle Sprowles and Gina Saluta, both of St. Augustine; his sister, Maria Saluta of Staten Island, NY; his brother, Michael Saluta, Floyd, VA; his grandchildren, Briana Hersey (Shawn), A.J. Rodriguez, Aliya Rodriguez, Kaitlyn Wright, Kirsten Wright, Kylee Saluta, Alex Sprowles, and Johnny Sprowles; and his great-grandchildren, Khelen Wright, Khalil Wright, Harper Hersey, and Avery Hersey.
John will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for his kind heart, unwavering strength, and profound love for his family. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
