John L. Sandrene, Jr., 76, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022. He was born on December 2, 1946. He is the son of the late John L. Sandrene, Sr. and the late Anne Feciuch.
John graduated from Archbishop Hoban High School (Akron, OH) 1964, University of Akron 1971, and earned a Masters of Education from Kent State University in 1975. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army (1966-1968) and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Sandrene was a lifelong educator. He began his teaching career in Centerburg (OH) where he met his wife Josie Pagurut. He taught business and coached football at Lake Park High School (Hanover Park, IL), then transitioned into administration as the Assistant Director of Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School, and spent 16 years as the Director of Steel Center AVTS until he retired in 2011.
John was a lifelong learner. He loved history, took art lessons, played scrabble and enjoyed visiting Presidential libraries. He enjoyed sports and coached his son’s basketball team for several years. He was a very loyal family man and faithful Roman Catholic; he volunteered his time with the Carroll County Humane Society and Villa Rica Public Library. He was an active member of the Villa Rica Senior Center.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Carol Ann Branham-Sandrene.
Mr. Sandrene is survived by his loving wife, Josie Mary Sandrene; daughter Melissa (Gene) Hullender of Villa Rica, Georgia; son, Tony (Amy) Sandrene of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister, Linda (Dennis) Crosser of Hokes Bluff, Alabama; grandchildren, Clara and Serena Sandrene; several nieces, and great nephews/nieces also survive.
His funeral mass and burial will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 210 Old Center Point Road Carrollton, GA 30117 on Saturday, January 14th at 11 a.m.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Sandrene was cremated. Flowers or donations to the Carroll County Humane Society may be made at www.carrollcountyhumane.org

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of Johnny. We first met as youngsters, shooting basketball in his and Linda's driveway ( when the guy next door didn't keep the ball). His loss will be felt by family and friends alike.
