John Henry Scheich passed away surrounded by his family on January 6, 2022, at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Nancy for 63 cherished years. Loving father of Chris Scheich, Julie (Rick) Frey, Jan (Dave) Pauwels and Davo (Anne) Scheich. Proud and adored grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 4. Cherished brother of Susan and the late Carol. He will be loved and remembered always by his family and friends.
John was born the only son of Marcella and Clarence Scheich on May 23, 1937. He was the middle child, between the two girls. He began working at a very young age to help support the family. He was a paper boy, worked at a hardware store, helped his mother with her catering business and taught ballroom dancing at an Arthur Murrays dance studio. He attended Cass Tech high school and then Lawrence Tech University. After graduation, he worked at General Motors as an electrical and mechanical engineer for 47 years while simultaneously working as a consultant for private vendors in the auto industry. He was always motivated to be the best provider he could for his family. He was proud to be a Macomb County Reserve Deputy Sheriff and flashed his badge to anyone who would look. He thoroughly enjoyed anything to do with cars. Nascar and Indy racing, antique cars, auto auctions, repairing and maintaining the cars he owned. Throughout his lifetime, he had numerous luxury and sport cars and still owned 7 of his favorites, alternately driving them even in his last days. He always had some project that he was working on. He enjoyed fixing things, engineering a solution to a problem and tinkering with machinery. He loved to take things apart just to see how they worked. He never threw away anything because he might need it for parts or something else someday. He was quick witted, always ready with a wise saying or advice. He could give you trivia about obscure things that no one else would know. He would break into songs from old musicals if the conversation mentioned one of the lyrics. Anyone who knew John would hear these 2 statements that he lived his life on. "Never sit with your back to the door".... you can't see the bad guy sneaking up on you. Upon parting, his salutation would always be: "Be as good as you can".

Almost a year since hearing his voice, his stories and his jokes. I miss seeing him in office and miss seeing Mrs. Nancy back in office. May God bless you and your family.
