John Schwind Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Raffeo - DiCecco Memorial Home, Inc. on Dec. 30, 2025.
John Francis Schwind, 64, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025.
John was born on April 5, 1961, in San Jose, California, to John and Cheryl Schwind. He was preceded in death by his father, John Schwind, and is survived by his two children, John Tyler (Meghan) Schwind and Brianna (John) Hall; his five siblings, Terence Schwind (Dana Bodenbender), Jeffrey (Christina) Schwind, Timothy (Martha) Schwind, Elizabeth (Kenyon) Kluesner, and Michael (Kari) Schwind; and his five grandchildren, Rylie, Jocelyn, Genevieve, Harry, and Elliott.
He grew up in Dubuque, Iowa and attended Wahlert High School before earning a degree in Microbiology and Immunology from Iowa State University. Highly intelligent and deeply curious, John built a successful professional career, spending over two decades as an executive at Merck from 1997 until his retirement in 2018.
John spent most of his adult life in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania. He had a wide range of interests and passions that brought him joy throughout his life. He loved music, traveling, reading, and grilling, and he took great interest in history, especially documentaries and programming on the History Channel. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago White Sox, Iowa State Cyclones and NASCAR, and enjoyed watching war movies and anything that sparked his fascination with the past. He was known for his ability to always find a solution to every problem and his love of laughter (especially at his children's jokes).
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 10:30AM CST at Resurrection Catholic Church, 4300 Asbury Road, Dubuque, IA 52002. The family will receive friends at 9:30AM to share condolences and memories of John.
