John W. Scruggs III, 73, of Olive Branch, MS, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024. Friends are invited to a visitation with his family at Coleman Funeral Home in Olive Branch on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with his funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Independence, MS. Deacon Hank Babin will officiate.
John was born on April 15, 1951 in Senatobia, MS. He worked for Coors Brewery for 32 years. John was an avid golfer and loved Ole Miss Sports. He had four dogs that spent a lot of time with him in the garage watching all kinds of sports. You could always find him sitting there with neighbors having a good time. John loved his family and had lots of friends. His group of friends had "Super Tuesday" where they would gather and cook together. In honor of this tradition, his service will be his last "Super Tuesday".
Left to honor his memory is his wife, Sarah Scruggs of Southaven, MS; his mother, Imogene Scruggs of Independence, MS; sons, Jay Scruggs (Michelle) of Germantown, TN and Brandon Scruggs (Jodi) of Byhalia, MS; seven grandchildren; one great-grand child; brother Mark Scruggs (Nancy) of Memphis; and sister, Suzan Scruggs of Olive Branch.
John was preceded in death by his father, John W Scruggs II.
In lieu of traditional flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of John Scruggs to Byhalia Lions Club, P.O. Box 247, Byhalia, MS 38611.
The family has requested that everyone dress casual in golf clothes or an Ole Miss shirt.
