John L. Sell, 90, of Krakow, passed away on May 22, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 20, 1935 to John and Erna (Karstedt) Sell in Oconto Falls. On November 14, 1959, he married Lorraine Leitzke at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Green Valley. John worked as a Foreman for Chicago Northwestern which later became Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years. he was an avid hunter and fisherman. John always enjoyed working in the garden, woodworking, reading, and doing crossword puzzles.
John is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine of 65 years, four children: Laurie (John) Bulkowski, Lynn Sell, Michelle (Steve) Hillebrand, and Craig Sell; seven grandchildren: Chad (Jackie) Bulkowski, Brandon Bulkowski, Leslie (Anthony) DeNardis, Steven and Johnathan Hillebrand, Carter and Nicholas Sell; five great-grandchildren: Olivia, Micha, Charlie, Roman, and Arlo; one sister, Evon Moede, two brothers-in-law: Marvin (Patty) Leitzke and Mark Leitzke, one sister-in-law, Pat Sell; he is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Erna (Harley) James, father, John G. A. Sell, one grandson, Andrew Hillebrand, five siblings: Betty (Al) Severson, Mavis (John) Leitzke, Pat (Larry) Cassidy, Jim Sell, and Sandy (Leroy) Otto.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church of Morgan, 3374 Hwy C Oconto Falls starting at 9:00 am with the Memorial Service following at 11:00 am with Pastor Katy Tomlanovich officiating.
The family would like to express a thank you to Unity Hospice for all their care, comfort, and support that was given to John and the family.
