John Severino Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home on Nov. 7, 2025.
John Francis Severino, 86, of Montclair, NJ, passed on Monday, November 3, 2025. Born on June 9, 1939, he is reunited with parents, Giovanni "John" and Elizabeth "Betty" Severino, and siblings: Kenneth, Richard, and Theresa. He is survived by his wife, Anna; two sons, Mark and Jon; and Jon's wife, Natalie. He will also be deeply missed by his pets: Lucy, Chappy, and Terry.
John married his soulmate Anna on June 6, 1964 in St. Anne Church, Porterville, CA, where they had met at a dance. John told jokes to her table and all her friends laughed. But not Anna, so he asked her to dance-then she laughed.
John is a graduate of Xavier High, Porterville College (where he played football as a walk-on), San Jose State and NYU graduate school. He was inspired to pursue a political career by JFK Sr., then joined the first tech boom as a programmer and IT manager for American Airlines, American Cyanamid, Shulton, UPS, among others including several of his own startups.
He remained active in politics, various charitable groups, and sundry local causes.
He remained a loyal Jets fan, and he loved his dogs, travel, Neil Young, standup comedy and playing poker with friends which he didn't consider "gambling."
A mass in his memory will be held at St. Cassian Church in Montclair on Tuesday, November, 11th at 11 am.
