John Richard (Jack) Shelburne died Saturday, March 25, 2023. He died at his home surrounded by his children. He was born December 12, 1933 in Fresno, California to Franklin Eugene Shelburne and Rosalie Hogue. Jack's first job was working at one of his father’s businesses. When he was young he learned his entrepreneurial ways from his father and stepfather.

He graduated from Fresno High School then he attended Fresno State College he majored in agriculture science, planning to work at his stepfather‘s dairy. During this time he worked at the dairy and he was president of the Dairy club and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. 

He met his wife Bonne Jean Secrest in Fresno at an engagement party and married soon thereafter. 

While working in San Jose Jack met some members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Several years later he joined the church and later the family was sealed in the Oakland temple. All four of his children served missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint and went to college. 

He enjoyed backpacking and hiking. His family joined him on one of his 50 mile backpacking trips to Gran Gulch in Utah. 

Jack was involved in various business ventures throughout his life. Including the wind power industry, numerous real estate ventures and his favorite were his mining projects in Africa, Mexico and in the United States. 

He was preceded in death by two great grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Joan Selland (Vern), Mandy McFadyen (Bruce), Robert Bradley Shelburne (Jennifer), Traina Giles (Lane) and Liesle Holden; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. 

At his request no formal funeral service will be held. There will be a service to dedicate his final resting place at the Levan, Utah cemetery April 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. 339–343 Cemetery Road,  Levan, Utah
