John E. (Jack) Sheridan, 80, formerly of Oswego, NY passed away on January 5, 2023 with his loving family by his side.
John was born on January 21, 1942, a son of Jack and Pauline Raby Sheridan. He was an altar boy during his youth and enjoyed Scouting and the great outdoors. He loved sports but participating in them not watching, basketball especially. John proudly served his country in the Army Corps of Combat Engineers from 1961-67 serving three years in Germany. He worked for GE after his military service then his love of construction led him to Oswego Local 747 (now 277). He worked for many years as a carpenter and millwright retiring due to health issues in 2001. He recently received his 50-year pin.
John's love of the outdoors extended throughout his adult life, hunting, fishing and backpacking. He also enjoyed flying, taxidermy, carpentry, the outdoors and a good brand of Scotch. He was a life member of the Remsen VFW 982, life member of the Boonville American Legion 406, NRA Benefactor, National Taxidermy, Antique Motorcycle, past member of Oswego Pathfinders, Oswego 35 Sportsman Club and Past President Region 7. He was very active in many associations until he retired due to illness.
He resided in the Hinckley Lake area for 43 years with his surviving wife, Susanne (Messenger) and his family, Kris (Brian) Daley, three children of his previous marriage, Debbie Sheridan, Oswego, Scott (Gina) Sheridan, Oswego and Deanne; grandchildren, Brandon, Shannon and Logan; great grandchildren, Julie and Coralie and a sister, Linda Sheridan, Baldwinsville and his extended family, Fred Horning and Tony and Brandon Nellenback.
