John Joseph Sigler

John Joseph Sigler, 94 years of age, died Wednesday, February 23, in Ossining New York. John was born on September 20, 1927, in a small farmhouse in Stockport, Columbia County, New York. His parents, Albert M. Sigler and Bernadine Garrity, and older sister Margaret, called him Jack. The family moved to Hudson, where as a teenager John worked in local apple orchards during the summers. He graduated from St. Michael's College in Vermont. John moved to White Plains, New York, in 1952, and worked as a pharmaceutical representative for A.H. Robbins for 35 years in New York City. John married Elizabeth "Betty" Fitzgerald in 1961 in Yonkers, New York. A devoted lifelong Catholic, John was a parishioner at St. John the Evangelist parish in White Plains, where he served faithfully as usher for many years. After retirement, John enjoyed painting landscapes and once again took up a hobby he had enjoyed in childhood, building and painting ship and airplane models. "He was a man much given to his home and it was there he found life's fullest happiness." John Joseph Sigler will be remembered by his children Bernadette Mary Rogoff, John Albert Sigler, and Elizabeth Margaret Zumar; his sons-in-law Marc Rogoff and Joseph Zumar, and his daughter-in-law Wendy Mignano Sigler (predeceased)d grandchildren Erin Leslie and Christopher Leo Rogoff.
