John Soloninka sadly passed away on August 6th , 2024 at The James Cancer Hospital. He was a devoted Associate Director at the Office of Educator Effectiveness and an Adjunct Professor of Research & Statistics at Capital University. John also served as the West African Representative at Lutheran World Relief, leaving an indelible mark on all those he encountered. Born on July 20, 1956, John's passion for education and agriculture shone through his academic pursuits. He completed his doctoral studies in Agricultural Education at The Ohio State University in 2003, following a Master of Science degree from West Virginia University. His quest for knowledge led him to delve into West African Studies at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Christian & Islamic Studies at Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary, and French Language studies at L’Accueil Fraternel in France.

A true scholar and cultivator, John's diverse educational background encompassed Agricultural Sciences at California State University, Fresno, and Horticulture at Santa Rosa Junior College. His commitment to learning was matched only by his dedication to teaching others, embodying the roles of mentor, guide, and hero to many. Described as genuine, caring, and selfless, John's impact extended beyond the classroom. His love for horticulture, gardening, and reading reflected his nurturing spirit and insatiable thirst for knowledge.

A memorial service to honor John's life will be held on September 7, 2024, at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Saint Clairsville, Ohio. The service will commence at 3:00 PM, providing an opportunity for friends, colleagues, and loved ones to pay their respects.

John is survived by his siblings: Brother David and sisters, Sandra, and Aleta. He will be dearly missed by his nieces Krysta, Hannah, Shayla, nephew Zane, and bonus children Fatimatou, Aisha, and Hamza. John was preceded in death by his father, John Soloninka Jr, and mother, Jean Maxine Soloninka (Niebergall).

In the tapestry of John Soloninka's life, we find a man of immense wisdom, kindness, and generosity. May his legacy continue to inspire and his memory bring solace to all who knew and cherished him.
