John Dustin Soper

John Dustin Soper, age 86, a resident of New Baltimore, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 3, 2025. John was born on July 23, 1938, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Reed and Inez Soper (Wicks). He is preceded in death by his brother, Stuart Soper. He was a valued father to Angela (Mark) Matthews, Amy Soper, and Dustin Soper (Angie). He was a beloved grandfather to Kayleigh Butler, Adam Matthews, and Emily Matthews.
John was a truck driver who devoted the last 20 years of his career to Mid Thumb Trucking Co. John was always known for demonstrating an admirable work ethic.
Known as a skilled handyman, John spent his free time lovingly taking on home projects for his family. He had a generous spirit and was quick to help those in need. John was also creative and enjoyed helping his grandchildren with school projects. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, steady hand with a paintbrush, acute sense of direction, elaborate holiday decorations, and garden of towering sunflowers.
The family will be holding a private memorial to honor John's life.
