ABBEVILLE - A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Father Don Bernard will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, honoring the life of John Blake Stanford, 51, who passed away on February 17, 2026, at his residence. He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery in Kaplan. Serving as pallbearers will be Keegan Stanford, Alex Hebert, Jacob Mathiew, Brandon Sagrera, Shane Winch, Jade Dubois, and Brad Comeaux.
An avid gun collector, Blake enjoyed the thrill of expanding his collection, often spending weekends with family and friends at his home, where he loved to entertain and host gatherings. In addition to his collection, John was known for his farming of crawfish ponds, a pursuit that brought him both satisfaction and a deep connection to the land. His creativity flourished in woodturning, as he crafted beautiful bowls and unique pieces that showcased his artistic spirit. A devoted dog owner, Blake shared a special bond with his cherished companion, Kace, who was a constant source of joy in his life. His love for card games and super events brought laughter and camaraderie to countless gatherings with family and friends.
A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 1:15: PM, when the procession will depart for the church.
He is survived by his wife, Hope Sagrera; children, Keegan Stanford and his wife Bailey and Kathryn Stanford; step children, Gage Gaspard, Drake Gaspard, and Zoe Dubois; grandchildren, Kainen and Brysen Stanford; mother, Gale Stanford; brother, Jody Stanford and his wife, Michelle; sister, Tobie Young and her husband, Randy; in-laws, Rodney and Jan Sagrera; and numerous aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Stanford, Jr.
