John K. Stone, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on September 24, 2025. He was born in Delta, CO, to Verra Sue (Austin) Stone and Dewayne R. Stone. Raised by Leland George Myers. Beloved grandson of Doris Myers.

John graduated HS in Buena Vista, CO, and he then joined the US Marine Corp. John served six years in the US Marines and fourteen years in the Army, where he completed multiple tours in Iraq and Korea. He then retired as a Staff Sergeant. Then he worked at Ft. Carson Army base as a supervisor for over five years.

John was a lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking and was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper, and off-road enthusiast. His best times were when he was riding his motorcycles and riding with LaWanda on his Spyder, taking romantic state-to-state trips.

John loved LaWanda Larkin with his whole heart. They fell in love after their first date. They became a union of one on August 1, 2020, and celebrated on September 26, 2021, in Colorado Springs. He loved being spontaneous, traveling, and going on romantic lunch dates throughout Colorado. As a husband, John was a perfect spouse who was attentive to LaWanda's needs as well as her wants. LaWanda was his queen, and John was her king.

John was a true Renaissance man. As a husband to LaWanda, a father figure to his three bonus children, Ivory, Darnell, and Atlas, as well as a grandfather to his bonus grandchildren Brian, Brea, Scarlette, Amethyst, and Emory. John also loved and adored his daughter-in-law, Soraya, and son-in-law Carl dearly.

John was a devoted grandfather and mentor by spending time talking and preparing Brian for basic Army training. As Brea's grandfather, he equally divided his time and knowledge, coaching her to push and excel herself to be the best sprinter she could be in track, which aided her in receiving a full scholarship to Clafin University.

John held a special place in his heart for Daniel, the best friend a man could have been blessed with, his brother in arms and spiritual family, Daniel Fisher, his wife Kata, and their daughters Katrina, Katelin, and Kristina. Daniel and John were truly a band of brothers in every way for over twenty years. Daniel and John had always loved and supported each other, especially when they went hunting as real-life brothers. With the love of Kata's cooking, John was always fed, full, and happy.

John loved his in-laws, Regenia, Anthony, and AnaAkeisha (Opples). He enjoyed the time spent with his sisters, Lydia and Betty. John had fatherly love for his nieces, Samantha and Lilly, and his nephews, Ulan and Chase, as well as his grandniece, Max, and grandnephews Duke, Colt, Monte, and Zeb. Mike and his wife Cheryl's friendship was cherished and enjoyed by John and LaWanda, as well as a host of other friends.

John was preceded in death by his father, Dewayne, and stepfather Leland, as well as his four-legged companion and best friend Ladybeth.

John passed into the Light on September 24, 2025, in Colorado Springs, CO.
