Surrounded by his loving family, John George Stonitsch passed away on February 7, 2025.
John (affectionately known as "Johnny") was many things, a boat captain, a master craftsman, a goofball, and so much more. But what his family admired most about him was his capacity to love.
His mother was everything to him. He admired her for her unwavering strength, kindness, and the deep love she poured into her family. His sisters were his guardians, protecting and loving him alongside their mother from the very beginning until the day he passed. His uncles, aunts, cousins, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews were his joy. Each one of them brought something special to his life. He considered his friends to be as close to him as brothers and sisters. His acquaintances became his friends within a few short moments. His father, George Stonitsch, and his uncle, Charles Maxwell, are men who were his greatest inspiration, even after they had passed.
He taught his daughters, Melinda and Angela Stonitsch, that unconditional love is real. From the moment they were born, he loved them with every fiber of his being.
If you live in Volusia County, you've likely seen his work-beautiful homes he built or remodeled with skill, passion, and dedication, leaving a lasting mark on the community. Among his most cherished projects are the homes at the corner of Spruce Creek Road and Central Park in Port Orange. His legacy of exceptional craftsmanship lives on, a tradition his daughter, Angela, is proud to carry forward.
If you have not seen his work, you may have noticed him on the boat, launching from Causeway Park in Port Orange. His favorite memories were of him spending time with his family while coasting on the Halifax River.
Johnny Stonitsch is survived by Diane Stonitsch (Mother), Kerry and Billy Orpinuk (Sister and Brother-In-Law), Barbra and Al Cino (Sister and Brother-In-Law), Melinda Stonitsch and David Fiorini (Daughter and Son-In-Law), Angela Stonitsch and Samuel Dao (Daughter and Son-In-Law), Jacquelyn and Murat Amanov (Niece and Nephew-In-Law), and Nicholas Orpinuk and Julia Cepuran (Nephew and future Niece-In-Law).
The Celebration of Life for John Stonitsch is scheduled for February 13th, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at The Estate on the Halifax located at 5123 S. Ridgewood Avenue in Port Orange, Florida 32127.
