John "Randy" Randal Thompson, age 67, of Centerburg, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026. He was born on September 15, 1958, in Mount Vernon, Ohio to the late Cecil John Thompson and Grace (Conkel) Thompson.
Randy graduated from Highland High School, Class of 1976. He married the love of his life, Debra Saunders, on June 30, 1979. Together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage.
Randy worked for Fire Guard as a sprinkler fitter and truly enjoyed the daily tasks of his work and mentoring others. He enjoyed all sports and was a super loyal fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. Randy and Debra went to many games and cheered on the Buckeyes. Randy loved being outdoors and hunting, and he was known for his impeccable work ethic. He was a good friend and still got together with his buddies from high school. Randy loved his family dearly. Randy will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debra Thompson; daughters, Jeannette "Jennie" (Jason) Malone and Jessica "Jessie" Green; grandchildren, Johnathan (Ashley Anderson) Thompson, Trevor Malone, Nathaniel Green, Dillon (Hailey Stagg) Malone, and Lillyian Green; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Thompson, Audrey Smith, and Addilyne Fletcher; brothers, Doug (Becky) Thompson, Jeff (Kelly) Thompson, and Alan (Jennifer) Thompson; and sister, Kim Schwartz; sisters-in-law, Donna (Larry) Dowis, Darlene (Kevin Foster) Saunders, and Dianne (Dale) Shoenfelt.
Randy was preceded in death by infant son, Jason Randal Thompson; parents, Johnny and Grace Thompson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Janet Saunders.
Friends may call on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at Snyder Funeral Home, DeVore Chapel, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074. On Saturday, January 24, 2026, Visitation will take place from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. with a Funeral Service starting at 11:00 A.M. at Snyder Funeral Home, DeVore Chapel, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074. Graveside prayers and burial will follow at Bloomfield Cemetery, Centerburg, Ohio. Minister Stan Ratliff officiating.
