John W. Tomlin

John W. Tomlin, age 64, of Arkdale, Wisconsin unexpectedly passed away Monday, July 1, 2024, at his home.
John was born July 1, 1960, in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Byron and Shirley (Schilling) Tomlin. He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School. John married Kathy Sweet on December 6, 2014. John was a jack of all trades and found himself in his earlier years working with auto mechanics and tinkering with handyman items. Ultimately, John found a job that he liked working for different security jobs in the Wisconsin Dells area until his time of medical retirement.
John enjoyed life with his wife and their fur kids. He especially enjoyed socializing. They enjoyed hosting get togethers with friends and attending church functions. In addition, they also shared their love for Jesus and studied the bible often. John was often found talking it up with strangers and loved to make jokes wherever he went. He enjoyed being quirky and goofy. He loved being helpful to others. In addition, he always enjoyed gardening and tinkering with electronics. John had a knack for seeing that all things could serve another purpose and liked to salvage items to have on hand for when the need arose. John loved cooking and eating some of his favorite recipes as well as those he decided to create. He enjoyed thrift shopping, rummaging, and finding that perfect item to gift to others. John also loved to read and listen to music.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; parents, Byron & Shirley Tomlin and his grandparents.
Survivors include his sister, Amy (George) Joslun of Winthrop Harbor, IL; brother, Clifford (Susan) Tomlin, of Grand Marsh, WI; niece, Kelley (Jerry) Lecy, of Adams, WI; nephews, Christopher Quinnell of Arkdale, WI; Phil (Darylin) Tomlin of Lyndon Station, WI; Gabe (Kori) Tomlin, of Pleasant Valley, WI; niece Emilie Joslun of Third Lakes, IL, and nephew, Ben (Trish) Joslun of Winthrop Harbor, IL.
The family would like to thank everyone who assisted in keeping John as independent as possible in the community. It truly does take a village. Special thanks to the Adams County ADRC for all of the resources and to the apartment complex neighbors who also provided support and a watchful eye.
