John R. Trancynger, 87, of Panama City Beach, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
Born to Georgina and Walter Trancynger Sr., John was a proud graduate of Saunders High School. As a young man, he shared his love of music as a member of the Doo-Wop group, The Dreamers, formed in 1958. John dedicated 28 years of exemplary service as a firefighter with the Yonkers Fire Department. He served his community with courage, integrity, and compassion, forming lifelong friendships with his fellow firefighters and earning the respect of all who knew him.
In addition to his love of music and public service, John enjoyed golf, softball, and basketball. He treasured time spent with his family above all else and took great pride in their accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Walter Trancynger Jr.; his sister, Donna Light; and his beloved daughter, Darlene Vitale.
John is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-one years, Eileen Trancynger; his sons, John A. Trancynger, Darren Trancynger, Mitchell Trancynger, and Adam Trancynger; his cherished grandchildren, Jackson, Ava, John Jr., Nicholas, Matthew, Anthony, and Kristen; his great-grandchildren, Luca, Vincent, Bella, John III, and Carmine; his son-in-law, John Vitale; his brother, David Trancynger; and many extended family members and dear friends.
