John Trott Obituary

John Douglas Trott, age 56 of Mount Gilead, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025 at his home.

He was born on February 2,1969 in Columbus, OH to Douglas John and Linda Kay (Tadlock) Trott.

John married the love of his life, Patti, on June 20, 1993. They met when they were in their early twenties, all thanks to his sister, Cheryl, introducing them at her wedding. They have spent 35 years together raising their family, all of whom he was so proud of. He was proud of his son, Orion, for becoming a member of the military; his other son, Xavier, for becoming a trucker, and "running America." He was proud of his daughters, Ebony, for working in healthcare and helping so many people who needed her and raising her son with grace, and Arial, for being a great mom to her children.

He was a man who never met a stranger. His goofiness and rambunctious attitude could entice (or on occasion, scare) anyone to chat with him. While he did settle down some as he aged, his whacky self still came out sometimes when talking about and doing things he loved. His family was his pride and joy; he loved his children, grandkids, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He made sure in many ways that you knew his love for you was deep, caring, and passionate. He was so intune with his emotions, was always cracking jokes and making others laugh, and will be so deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Patti Trott; children: Ebony Farrington, Arial (Rob Nagle) Wise, Orion Trott, and Xavier Trott; grandchildren: Jordan Days, Robert Nagle Jr., and Elijah Nagle; parents, Douglas John and Linda K. Trott; siblings: Rob (Lorena) Trott and Cheryl (Chris) Vassaux; and numerous dear aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and so many friends. Also surviving is his furry best friend, Flower.

John's family will greet friends on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 12 - 2 PM at Snyder Funeral Homes, Mount Gilead Chapel, 67 N Main Street. A celebration of life service will follow beginning at 2 PM, officiated by Celebrant Alycia Orcena.
