John L. Turnbaugh "Johnny", 68 years old, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025 at his home in Newport. He was born November 26, 1956 in Harrisburg to the late Carole Stroup Hostler and James L. Turnbaugh Sr. He was co-owner with brother Gary E. Turnbaugh of the Hard Hat Tavern in Newport.
John was a graduate of Millerstown Greenwood High School Class of 1974. A Member of the Newport Social Order of Owls, Newport American Legion and Newport VFW.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years,Lesa Cox Turnbaugh. Daughters Petra-Johnny Shiffer of Newport and Tenille Clark of Millerstown; grandchildren Kaytlyn-Jordan Wheaton of Boyerstown, PA, and Bella Clark of Millerstown; grandson Devin-Cameron Clark of California and great grandchildren Ellianna and Grayson Wheaton of Boyerstown, PA.. and brother Gary E. Turnbaugh of Newport. He was preceded in death by brother James L. Turnbaugh Jr "Toad"
A Celebration of John's Life will be held May 18, 2025 at the Newport Family Life Center, 27 W. Shortcut Road, Newport, with a visitation from 1 PM until the service at 3 PM with Pastor Trevor Lightner officiating.
