John Gray Tutor, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, in Hernando, Mississippi, at the age of 80. Born on August 31, 1944, in Water Valley, Mississippi, John lived a life characterized by hard work, dedication, and a zest life that touched those him.
Throughout his career as a truck for Milan Truck Lines, John demonstrated his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence, driving over one million miles without an accident—a testament to his skill and diligence on the road. He found great joy in his work, particularly when driving through California, a place he cherished in his journeys.
John valiantly served in the Army during the Vietnam Era, a period that contributed significantly to his character and spirit. His military service was a source of pride for him and a significant chapter of his life.
John was known for his outgoing and friendly personality. He was a man who never met a stranger and always struck up conversations with those around him, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. His warmth and kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
An avid outdoor enthusiast, John loved fishing and hunting with his family. He had special memories of a honeymoon trip to Hawaii and enjoyed visiting friends in Foley, Alabama. Those moments were cherished times that added to the tapestry of his life.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Bonnie (Bass) Tutor, who was a constant source of support and love. He is also remembered fondly by his daughter Melinda Tutor, his son Christopher Tutor, his bonus son Michael "Eric" Panigoni, and his bonus daughter Michelle Fleming (Jeff). His legacy continues through his grandchildren Amber Sheets, Michael Vincent Panigoni, Daniel Tutor, Angelique Tutor, Leon Rameriz, Lus Rameriz, Emma Rameriz, and Drake Tutor, each of whom carries a piece of his spirit forward.
John is preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Tutor, parents, Rosco and Pauline (Pendergrass) Tutor, his brother Louis Tutor, and his sister Barbara Harrison. Their memories will forever be woven into the lives of those he leaves behind.
As we reflect on John's life, we celebrate a man who embraced every moment and enriched the lives of those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will carry forward the love and joy he brought into their lives.
