John Joseph Veiga Jr., a cherished son, husband, brother, and godfather, passed away on September 1, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on July 18, 1969, in Brockton, Massachusetts, John was a beacon of strength and love to all who knew him. He was the devoted son of the late John Veiga Sr. and Shirley Stoddard, a loving husband to Sara Cohen, and a caring brother to Donna Alves of Duxbury, Lucy Delancey and Joanne Veiga of Brockton, and Edward Veiga and his wife Erin of Brockton. He was also survived by his mother-in-law Martha Hyams and his sister-in-law Jessie Cohen. Predeceased by his father-in-law Ronald Hyams, aunt Marie DaVeiga, nephew Brian Delancey, and his cousin Torrey Lopes, all whom he held near to his heart.

Joe's life was a testament to the value of hard work and dedication. For over forty years, he was a respected Union Laborer with local 223, where he not only contributed his skills and labor but also formed lasting friendships and earned the admiration of his colleagues. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his commitment to his family and community.

A man of simple tastes and profound passions, Joe had a deep love for his dogs, which were his constant companions and brought him immeasurable joy. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of the New York Jets, standing by his team through thick and thin. Joe's strength was not just emotional but physical as well; he was an avid powerlifter who enjoyed the discipline and challenge of the sport.

Joe's generosity knew no bounds, and he was always eager to give back to his community. He was particularly involved with the Toys for Tots program, helping to bring smiles to children's faces during the holiday season. His love for country music was another facet of his personality, often serving as the soundtrack to the many happy moments in his life.

Above all, Joe was a loving man. This single word encapsulates his essence and the way he approached every relationship and endeavor. As a godfather, he was a guiding light to Joseph Veiga, Joneiha Veiga, Isabella Veiga, and Arianna Cohen, imparting wisdom, laughter, and unconditional support.

Joe's presence was a comfort and his life a model of love in action. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. His legacy will continue to inspire and his memory will forever be a source of joy to those who were fortunate enough to know him.

As we bid farewell to John Joseph Veiga Jr., we celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the countless lives he touched. He has left an indelible mark on the world, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of many. Joe's journey through life was one of purpose, kindness, and love, and his story will be told with fondness and admiration for generations to come.
