John Thomas Vestal, 68, left this world on August 14th at his home. John was born December 21, 1956. He grew up in Milan where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep love for family. He joined the United States Army before he could graduate high school.
John was a member of the 501st Signal Battalion 101st Airborne Division 1974-1975 then a member of the 561st Military Police Ft. Lesley J. McNair Washington,DC 1975-1977.
John was a loving father to his only child, Brandi Nicole Vestal, who he proudly raised as a single father. He has two amazing grandchildren, Haden Thomas Rankin, who is proudly named after his grandfather and Emma Grace Rankin. He is also survived by his two brothers, Howard H. Vestal and Wayne Vestal and sister, Sherry Gonzales. He was an electrician by trade and held many maintenance certificates. John worked for John Deere, Allsteel, The Milan Army Ammunition Plant, UGN and Carlisle Tire. He was known for his hard work and devotion to his family. John had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make anyone laugh.
John's hobbies included riding his Harley, target practice, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was loved and will be missed by many.
John was preceded in death by his brother, David Vestal and sister, Francis Darnell.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 21, 2025 in the chapel of Medina Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Hanks officiating. Burial will follow at the Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, in the chapel of Medina Funeral Home and again on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour.
