John Thomas Watson, 85, of Sophia, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on April 15, 1940, John was the son of the late Bertram Watson and Lucille Spencer. Following his education, he proudly and honorably served in the United States Navy, retiring in 1982 after a long and dedicated military career. After his service, John continued to work diligently with Hatteras Yacht and Dixie Container.

John had a deep love for life and cherished time spent with his wife. Together, they enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his devotion to his country, and above all, his steadfast faith in Jesus.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Michael T. Watson; stepdaughter, Melissa Walker; brother, Bert Watson; and sister, Susan R. Watson.

He is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate, Peggy Isaacs Watson; his children, Johnathan M. Watson and Michelle W. Collins (Jason); stepdaughter, Michele Tate; grandchildren, Jennifer W. Hubbard (Gannon), Lacey Watson, Mason Collins, Brady Collins, Joey Watson, and Amy Watson; step-grandchildren, Christian and Cameron Walker; and four cherished great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Floral Garden Park Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, with Pastor Daniel Gardner officiating.
