John E. Wells, born in
Mims, Florida, passed away in New Smyrna Beach. Known to many simply as John or Mr. Wells, and lovingly called "Pops" by his son John and family, he was a lifelong resident of Brevard County.
John was born and raised in Mims, where he grew up working in the orange groves of North Brevard. From an early age, he learned the value of hard work and community-values he carried with him throughout his life.
A devoted NASCAR fan, John attended many races both locally and out of state, and weekends often found him watching races with enthusiasm. He also had a deep love for the outdoors and hunting. Over the years, he hunted deer, ducks, geese, pigs, and turkeys. He was especially proud of dog hunting, raising some of the best hunting dogs in the area alongside his son John.
John was one of the earliest members of the Honey Hill Hunt Club in the 1980s and remained an active member for many years. He loved spending weekends at camp, sitting in the shack eating, drinking, and sharing stories of past adventures with the buddies he loved dearly.
For more than 50 years, John worked in the parts department at Ron Norris Honda. His coworkers became like family, and together they shared countless memories and good times.
John loved his family deeply and would do anything for them. He always had something funny to say, and once he started laughing, it was impossible not to laugh along with him. One of the first things people noticed about John was his striking smile and piercing blue eyes. He never met a stranger-he loved people, and they loved him right back.
John was a great friend-dependable, kind, and always willing to lend a hand. He was not only a good friend but also a wonderful father, grandfather, and, most importantly, a devoted husband.
In true John fashion, he enjoyed life's simple pleasures-radishes in his salad and sweet onions eaten like an apple.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
